Celebrating Women-Owned Businesses

In celebration of International Women’s Day, March 8th, we’re celebrating Hilldale’s female business owners.

Tina Schumaker, Owner | Burn Boot Camp

Fitness club owner Tina, of @Burn Boot Camp – Hilldale, has been an entrepreneur for 25 years and has some advice for women looking to make the leap into running a business, including the key to her own success: determination.

Brittany Graber, Owner | Ulla Eyewear

Brittany Graber took over funky, local eyeglass shop @Ulla Eyewear 10 years ago and credits flexibility for her professional achievements.

Cait Sirianni, Owner | Crescendo Espresso Bar

Owner of @Crescendo Espresso Bar + Music Café, Cait Sirianni, is a singer/songwriter whose hard work and resilience turned a dream into two booming businesses in just 7 years. Here’s Cait’s advice for navigating entrepreneurship:

Meredith Mast, Owner and Director | Storybook Ballet

Professional ballet dancer turned entrepreneur, Meredith Mast of @Storybook Ballet, struggled to find a career that checked all the boxes for her. She encourages women to create their own opportunities, if the ideal one doesn’t already exist.

Kate Holl, Owner | Wildewood

Kate Holl opened @Wildewood Shop, a plant boutique, just two years ago and came to Hilldale as a pop-up in 2019. As a former photo editor, Kate has a keen eye for design, and it’s played an important role in her vision.

Jen Van Wart, President and Founder | Twigs

When Jen Van Wart of @Shop Twigs was working on Wall Street in the 1990s, her dreams began wandering to a new career as a boutique owner. With savvy and style, she made it happen, but Jen encourages women to look for a mentor to make the journey easier.

Ashley Fuller, Owner | Blended

Ashley Fuller, owner of  @Blended Madison, was once an industrial engineer who couldn’t ignore a calling to run her own restaurant.  She hopes other women will follow their hearts too, and never settle for the status quo in their careers.
