When it comes to protecting our environment, the little things matter. From planting a tree to finally remembering that reusable cup, simple, everyday actions can make a big difference.

Join us Earth Day weekend for more Green-filled fun:

Donation Drive with Goodwill of South Central Wisconsin – Friday, April 22, 12 pm – 7 pm and Saturday, April 23, 10am 4pm 

FRIDAY WEATHER UPDATE! Find the donation drop-off area under the tent- located in the parking lot behind LL Bean (off Heather Crest & Segoe Rd.) for convenient drop-off of your donated items.

In partnership with Hilldale and in service to the local community, Goodwill of South Central Wisconsin is joining in on Hilldale’s Earth Day weekend event with a mobile donation site! Look for the Goodwill SCWI truck located in the parking lot behind LL Bean (off Heather Crest & Segoe Rd.) for convenient drop-off of your donated items. The first 200 donors during this event will receive a swag bag – while supplies last.

Goodwill SCWI gratefully accepts new and gently used items of resale quality, including: Clothing, shoes and accessories, Toys and games, Home décor and furniture, and Electronics – working or not! – including computers and printers (No TV’s please.) Learn more here.

WEATHER UPDATE: Celebrate Earth Day with Creando Explorertorium! SATURDAY APRIL 23rd at 10am INSIDE CREANDO.

Calling all little explorers! Join Creando for music and crafts to celebrate Earth Day! Due to Friday’s rain- this activity has been moved inside Creando, located next to Kendra Scott and Macy’s.

Music time: 10am-10:30am: Enjoy songs and music with Creando, instruments will be provided!

Grow your Semilla: 11:00am: Pots, dirt, seeds to grow a herb garden, shovels and materials to decorate will be provided for kids. While supplies last.

Pop-up percussion by the Handphibians – Friday April 22 from 4pm – 7pm

Join us on the Green (near AMC & LL Bean) for a performance from the Handphibians– a Madison Brazilian Percussion Group. During set breaks, kids will be invited to learn more about the drums!

The Handphibians are a group of percussionists from the Madison, Wisconsin area who study and perform various styles of Brazilian music. Learn more here.

Face painting on the Green: Friday, April 22, 2pm – 5pm and Saturday, April 23 from 12pm – 3pm

FRIDAY WEATHER UPDATE: Face Painting will be located inside the atrium lobby near Macy’s

Bring the kids by for complimentary face painting. ​Watch as the magic begins with a paint stroke- featuring breathtaking butterflies, enchanted fairies and dragons, playful kittens and puppies, brave knights, gorgeous princesses, furious tigers, the design possibilities are endless. Featuring Premier Face Painting of Madison, the Artist will accommodate as many children as time allows. Please note, a signed and completed participation waiver is needed for each participant receiving face painting.

Seed Planting activity with Wildewood: Friday, April 22 from 12pm-3pm

FRIDAY WEATHER UPDATE: The seed planting activity will now take place inside the Wildewood store

Calling all little planters! Visit Wildewood on Earth Day to plant your own pot.

Join us on Earth Day, Friday, April 22nd from 12pm-3pm on the sidewalk outside of Wildewood (across from Forage Kitchen). Pots, soil and seeds will be provided for kids, while supplies last.

Henna Designs: Friday, April 22 from 4pm-7pm

FRIDAY WEATHER UPDATE: Henna art will now take place inside lululemon

Enjoy complimentary Henna art from Henna Blossom Madison. The Artist will accommodate as many children as time allows. Please note, a signed and completed participation waiver is needed for each participant receiving henna.

Giveaways with L.L.Bean: Friday, April 22 and Saturday, April 23

Visit the L.L.Bean pop-up tent next to the Goodwill donation station. Attendees who drop off donations will receive a fun giveaway from L.L.Bean!

Plus, stop in the store for apparel and gear- made for the outdoors.

PROSHRED Drop off: Friday, April 22 from 4pm – 6pm behind LL Bean

FRIDAY WEATHER UPDATE! Find the paper shredding drop-off area under the tent- located in the parking lot behind LL Bean

PROSHRED will offer a free drop-off service – with their certified document destruction and recycling processes, your secure documents are destroyed on-site and all destroyed materials are then recycled into new products. Paper shredding is the most secure way to properly dispose of your confidential information while helping the environment, plus adding value to our economy. Learn more here.

PROSHRED will provide security containers in which the documents to be shredded will be place in for such shredding.  Paper, folders, hanging folders, paper clips, elastics, staples and metal clips can all be shredded and should be the only items placed into the bins for shredding. Limit: one letter size box (10x12x15inch box) per customer/family please.

Celebrate Clean EV Charging on Earth Day with EnTech Solutions and Metcalfe’s Market: Friday, April 22 at 11am

FRIDAY WEATHER UPDATE! Earth Day event will kick-off at 11:00am under the tent in Metcalfe’s parking lot

You are invited to celebrate our new clean EV charger installation at Metcalfe’s Market at Hilldale on Friday, April 22 – Earth Day! The charger is primarily powered by solar energy, reducing overall EV emissions to nearly zero. Hear from project and company leaders about how the technology works, why it aligns well with Metcalfe’s sustainability commitments and what this means to the city of Madison.

The Earth Day event will kick-off at 11:00 a.m. with speakers from Dane County, Metcalfe’s Market, the City of Madison and EnTech Solutions. Following the brief presentation, a charger/microgrid mini tour will be given. Drinks and light snacks will be served, courtesy of Metcalfe’s.

Free pop-up camp with Burn Boot Camp: Saturday, April 23 from 9:15am-10am on the Green

Join us on the Green, near LL Bean for a free work out with Burn Boot Camp. Registration required here. No need to bring anything other than a water bottle if you’d like.

Please arrive 15 minutes early to fill out a waiver, meet some of our team, and stretch a few minutes before a heart-pounding 45 minute workout! There will be no childwatch for this pop-up camp. This high intensity workout can be modified for all fitness levels. For more about Burn Boot Camp, visit the link here.

Meet & Greet with Mirabel and Ariel: Saturday, April 23 from 11am-1pm on the Green

Meet the fan favorite characters Mirabel, of Encanto and Ariel of the Little Mermaid at our Earth Day event! The characters will be at the Green (near bartaco) for meet & greets and photos.

Sampling with FreshFin Poke: Opening this Summer at Hilldale: Saturday, April 23 from 11am-1pm

FreshFin Poke is opening this Summer at Hilldale! Stop by their new location to sample favorites from the menu. Find their new location across from AMC Theater, next to Dumpling Haus.

LUSH Earth Day Lessons: Saturday, April 23 from 12pm-2pm at the table outside LUSH

Learn about Sustainability efforts at LUSH and how you can get a free facemask! Through the Bring it Back/Take it Back program, customers can return five black or clear pots to claim a free fresh face mask. These pots are chipped down into raw material, re-molded as new pots, filled with product and sent back to stores to be picked off the shelf once again. This circular flow of materials cuts down on our overall plastic use and reduces LUSH’s carbon footprint.

Meet the Team from RENEW: Saturday, April 23 from 10am-4pm on the Green

RENEW Wisconsin is a nonprofit organization dedicated to building a stronger, healthier, more vibrant Wisconsin through the advancement of renewable energy. RENEW work’s on policies and programs that support solar power, wind power, biogas, local hydropower, geothermal energy, and electric vehicles.

Attendees can visit their station at the Green (near LL Bean) on Saturday April 23rd from 10am-4pm to learn about advancements in renewable energy across the state, including (but not limited to) geothermal, electric vehicles, and solar energy. Feel free to stop by for more information in going solar on your home. Plus, solar powered toy cars for kids will be available to play on the Green during the event!

NEW Trade-in program launching on Earth Day at lululemon

Beginning on Earth Day, April 22nd at lululemon Madison, trade in your gently worn gear at lululemon. Get credit and that good feeling of choosing better for the planet. Plus, bring in your trade-ins on Earth Day and receive a complimentary pack of herb seeds, while supplies last. 

lululemon is taking steps toward a circular ecosystem with the launch of Like New. Gather any gently worn lululemon gear you’re no longer using and bring it to our store. You’ll receive credit you can use on NEW lululemon gear that you can use in store and online. A win for you and the planet. When you trade in your gently worn gear to a local store, Like New will refresh it for someone else.  Learn more here.

Madewell

  • Recycle your pre-loved denim in store: They’ll turn your old bootcuts into housing insulation for communities in need.
  • Madewell’s giving new life to old jeans through recycling. So far, you’ve donated more than 800,000 pairs of jeans to the program, warming more than 1,000 homes (and keeping 415 tons of denim out of the trash).
    • Materials: by 2025, 100% of the key fibers used in our materials will be sustainably sourced and free of non-recycled plastics.
    • What We’re Doing Now: Right now 67 percent of our spring clothing collection is sourced more sustainably or made with Do Well materials.

  • Re-using our own retention pond; recycling the water for our efforts
  • Planting drought-resistant plants and trees
  • We have 5 Bioswales channels, which collect polluted stormwater runoff, soak it into the ground, and filter out pollution
  • Providing bike racks
  • Providing two bus stops on property
  • Hosting two Little Free Libraries to encourage sharing books, less waste
  • Hosting onsite composting units
  • Converting exterior parking lot lights to LED
